Red hot!

Red Ransom enjoys G3 double in southern hemisphere, the same day his son Arlington takes third in G1 Randwick Guineas

Dalham Hall resident Red Ransom has been enjoying a purple patch of late with his runners in the southern hemisphere, notching up no fewer than four individual Black type winners already this year.

On 29 March he increased that total to six, when his talented two-year-old son All American confirmed his place as a leading contender for Australia’s biggest two-year-old race - the Golden Slipper - with a commanding win in the G3 Skyline Stakes at Randwick.

The same race saw Dubai To Sydney, by fellow Darley stallion Dubai Destination, take third place, having enjoyed little luck in running and he too may be lining up at Rosehill for the Slipper next month.

The Royal Randwick Guineas was the feature race of the afternoon and another of Red Ransom’s flagbearers in Australia this year, Arlington, added further Black type to his CV when taking third in the prestigious G1 contest.

Red Ransom’s other G3 winner of the day was three-year-old filly Valpolicella, who landed the ten-furlong Manawatu Classic at Awapuni in New Zealand. Darley-sired progeny once again featured in the main race on the card when Captain Fantastic (Fantastic Light) finished second in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Also on Saturday, Tramuntana and A Country Girl (both by Singspiel) gained further Black type when finishing third in the G3 Evright.com Stakes and Listed Cargo Bar Wenoa Girl Quality respectively.
