Pakistan Star shines in Standard Charter Champions & Chater Cup

Son of Shamardal earns his second G1 Stakes victory at Sha Tin

Pakistan Star recorded his second G1 victory with an impressive one-and-three-quarters length victory in the Standard Charter Champions & Chater Cup at Sha Tin.

The talented son of Shamardal was settled second through the early stages of the race, as stablemate Exultant (by Teofilo) led the field of five through moderate early fractions. As the field entered the home straight, Pakistan Star moved up to challenge for the lead. The five-year-old then pulled clear in the final furlong to win easily.

Exultant held on well for second, with Gold Mount finishing third, completing a 1-2-3 sweep for trainer Tony Cruz.

Bred by Gestut Wittekindshof, Pakistan Star is out of the multiple Stakes winner Nina Celebre, whose dam, Next Gina, captured the G1 German Oaks.

Shamardal is the sire of 118 individual Stakes winners including 19 G1 winners. In addition to Pakistan Star, he is also the sire of 2018 Epsom Derby hopeful Hazapour, recent winner of the G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown.
