Authorized’s son Prize Money finished his three-year-old season in style on Saturday 5 November when winning the valuable November Handicap at Doncaster. Racing off a lofty rating of 107 thanks to his early season exploits when running Hawkbill and Algometer close in Stakes races at Royal Ascot and Goodwood, he went to the front three furlongs from home, running on really well to the line to record a three-quarter length triumph.
Returning a very high Timeform race rating of 120, Prize Money’s performance stacks up very well compared to other three-year-old performances in GB or Ireland this season. It is higher than the 119 recorded by Harbour Law when winning the G1 St Leger over the same course in September and only 1lb off the 121 of Harzand when he won the Irish Derby at the Curragh.
It is also the leading performance of any three-year-old handicapper this season and compares very favourably in all-age company with no performance over a mile or more rating higher. Most notably it is higher than the 119 recorded by Heartbreak City when he won the Ebor by four lengths, with his subsequent exploits in the Melbourne Cup maybe giving a forerunner as to what may lie in store for Prize Money.
Authorized has had four runners when crossed Elusive Quality mares with three of them proving to be successful including useful performer Permission. His fourth, the very lightly-raced Hermann who was third on his only start to date, holds entries later this week for trainer Richard Hannon.
Authorized will be standing this upcoming season at Haras du Logis for a fee of €10,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
