A regular look at promising maiden winners for Darley sires. This week: Say No Now by Refuse To Bend

Say No Now, from the first crop of Refuse To Bend, holds some smart entries in the coming months, including the Oaks, and the three-year-old filly looked a class above her rivals at Nottingham on 8 May when breaking her maiden in impressive style.

Settled in second, David Lanigan's charge travelled beautifully throughout and shaken up three from home, surged to the lead and was eased down crossing the line, winning the one-mile contest by three lengths. She was chased home by another Refuse To Bend filly, Arabian Pearl, who took second.

Say No Now was second on her racecourse debut last September to Godolphin's subsequent Oh So Sharp Stakes second Moonlife. Later that month she once again made the frame, finishing second over seven furlongs at Kempton, although perhaps most notably she beat last weekend's 1,000 Guineas winner Ghaanati into third place.

Bred by Limetree Stud Ltd, Say No Now is out of the Cadeaux Genereux mare Star Studded - an own sister to G2 winner and Black Type producer Land Of Dreams. Purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock at the 2007 Tattersalls October Sale, she now races in the colours of Saif Ali and Saeed H Altayer.

Refuse To Bend has already made an impressive start to his stud career, with no fewer than 16 first-crop winners last year and he currently has almost 38 per cent of his runners rated 80 or above by Timeform.
