Newfangled impresses on debut at Newmarket

Daughter of New Approach becomes her sire's third winner

Impressive first-crop sire New Approach registered his third individual winner when his daughter Newfangled put up a striking debut performance in a well-contested six-furlong Maiden at Newmarket’s July course. Knowing her job well from the stalls, she was always cruising near the front and only needed to be pushed out to record an impressive four-and-a-half length triumph, the same winning margin as her paternal half-brother Tha’Ir recorded when winning his Maiden at Ripon on Wednesday.

Bred by Darley and owned, like New Approach, by HRH Princess Haya of Jordan, she is second foal of the winning Machiavellian mare Scarlet Ibis, a daughter of Champion Flagbird.  Scarlett Ibis also has yearling and foal fillies, both by Bernardini and has been covered this season by Medaglia d'Oro.

New Approach is also responsible for the impressive unbeaten Dawn Approach, who landed the Listed Rochestown Stakes on Monday at Naas. Rated 110p by Timeform, he is currently favourite for the prestigious Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
