New winners for Cloth Of Stars and Harry Angel

I Am Sovereign makes a successful debut in France; Al Dasim wins by four at Windsor

The first runners by European Champion Cloth Of Stars are beginning to make their presence felt and he added a new winner to his record on Monday, 25 July when I Am Sovereign won at the first time of asking.

Racing over seven and a half furlongs at Tarbes in France, I Am Sovereign was soon in front under jockey Anthony Crastus. Ridden along with two furlongs left to run, he was hard pressed by eventual second Famoso in the closing stages but battled well to retain his lead and win by a quarter of a length.

I Am Sovereign is owned and bred by Peter Anastasiou, who bred Cloth Of Stars himself. I Am Sovereign is out of the winning Singspiel mare Irish Song, also dam of Stakes performer Celtic Art.

Also on Monday, fellow first-season sire Harry Angel further increased his winners' tally when Al Dasim ran out the very easy winner of the five-furlong maiden at Windsor.

Making all under Jack Mitchell, Al Dasim was asked to quicken two furlongs out and cruised clear to eventually win by four lengths, with a further six lengths back to third.

Bred by Skymarc Farm, he is out of the winning Dansili mare Dance Hall, now dam of seven winners including Stakes winner and G1 Dewhurst fourth Tashweeq.
