New Stakes winner for Singspiel

Tramuntana becomes his sire’s sixth Black type performer of the year; Royal Applause's son Battle Of Hastings gains second straight Stakes win

Singspiel recorded his third Black type winner and sixth Black type performer of the year to date on 11 April when his son Tramuntana won the Listed Mistral Oakbank Stakes, run over five-and-a-half furlongs at Oakbank in Australia.

Although this was only the second career victory for the six-year-old, he has been a consistent performer for his sire having been Stakes-placed on three previous occasions including a third in the G1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield last February.

On the same day Miss Singhsix, also by Singspiel finished second in the Listed Santa Lucia Handicap at Santa Anita to gain her third Black type placing in the US. Singspiel, who last year sired an outstanding 100 winners in the northern hemisphere, recently sired his tenth individual winner at the highest level when Eastern Anthem landed the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup night.

Also at Santa Anita on Saturday, Battle Of Hastings (Royal Applause) recorded his second straight Black type victory, landing the one-mile La Puente Stakes.
