New Stakes winner for Shamardal

Sommerabend lands the Listed Grand Prix Anjou-Bretagne

Darley stallion Shamardal sired his 29th career Stakes winner on Monday July 4, when his son Sommerabend won the Listed Grand Prix Anjou-Bretagne at Nantes. Trained in Germany by U. Stoltefuss, he now has won five races (four in his native Germany) from nine career starts.

Bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, he is a half-brother to the G3-winner Sommertag and out of the Stakes-winning mare Sommernacht.

Shamardal, who stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, has sired Classic winners in three countries and since 2009 has had seven Group winning juveniles, a figure that is unsurpassed by any European or North American stallion.
