New Stakes winner for Iffraaj

Rasima beats the fast-finishing Move Swiftly (Farhh) in the Fleur de Lys Fillies’ Stakes

Rasima, a three-year-old daughter of Iffraaj, gained a valuable first Stakes victory on Wednesday, 1 November when landing the Listed Fleur de Lys Fillies’ Stakes. Run over a mile on Lingfield Park’s Polytrack surface, she gained a decisive lead early in the short home straight before holding off the late charge of Move Swiftly (Farhh), who flew from the rear to be a never nearer second.

Bred by Hesmonds Stud, she is the first foal of the winning Dalakhani mare Raushan, a full-sister to G1 Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Chinese White, who is from the extended family of top stallion Invincible Spirit.

From only five runners out of Dalakhani mares, Iffraaj has sired five winners, two of which have now won at Stakes level. His three other winners also include two juveniles scorers this season including the Andre Fabre-trained Argyron, a six-length winner this week at Saint-Cloud in France.

Iffraaj has sired 24 Stakes performers in 2018 including his fastest son Jungle Cat, a dual G1 winner in the UAE and Australia who will be standing at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for the 2019 season.
