New Stakes winner for Iffraaj

Progressive colt Benvenue is victorious in Rome

Benvenue, a three-year-old son of Iffraaj, became the latest Stakes winner for his sire on 28 October, landing the Listed Premio Conte, run over ten furlongs in Rome.

Settled in third position, Benvenue was ridden along as the field approached the home straight and outbattled previous Stakes winner Romantic Wave close to home to win by half a length. He has now won or been placed in six of his eight starts.

Bred by Curtasse Sas, Benvenue is out of the G3 performer Guest Harbour, dam of an impressive ten winners from ten foals to race.

He is one of 15 Black type performers for Iffraaj in 2012, a group that includes juvenile Stakes winner Virgin Queen, plus four runners who have been placed at Group level.
