New stakes winner for Iffraaj

Virgin Queen wins Premio Vittorio Crespi

Virgin Queen, a two-year-old daughter of Iffraaj, landed the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi over 1200m at San Siro on Sunday to become her sire’s sixth black-type winner.

The Stefano Botti-trained filly, who was bred in Ireland by E Tynan from the Night Shift mare Glencoe Solas, won on her debut at the same course on 29 April and then picked up her first piece of black type when second in the Premio Alessandro Perrone at Capanelle just over a fortnight ago.

Iffraaj, who stands at Kildangan Stud for €10,000 (October 1, SLF) has just three crops of racing age with his best performers including the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Wootton Bassett and Group Three winners Stay Alive and Espirita.

Iffraaj is set to be represented next week at Royal Ascot by King Dragon, who is declared for the G2 Coventry Stakes on Tuesday, Zoola, who holds an entry for the G2 Queen Mary Stakes, Wokingham Stakes runner Pearl Ice and Cai Shen, who is set to line up in the Listed Wolferton Handicap.
