New Group winner for leading first-season sire Iffraaj

Espirita wins the G3 Prix des Reservoirs at Deauville in style to become the seventh Black type performer for her sire

Iffraaj has enjoyed an outstanding first season to date with his first crop of two-year-olds, siring no fewer than 33 winners headed by the unbeaten G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Wootton Bassett. On 19 October he added another Group winner to his impressive record when his daughter Espirita ran out the three-length winner of the G3 Prix des Reservoirs at Deauville.

Breaking smartly, Espirita was settled in third position and taking the lead a furlong and a half from home, soon eased clear of her rivals to win comfortably.

This was the second victory in three starts for the Elie Lellouche-trained filly, who was second by just a a head on her debut in July before breaking her maiden by two lengths the following month.

Bred by S C A La Perrigne & Elevage De Courteilles, Espirita is out of the unraced Warning mare Belle Esprit – a full sister to multiple Group winner Torch Rouge and a granddaughter of the great Reprocolor.
