New Black type winner for Cape Cross

Emboss lands the Listed Preis der Stadtsparkasse Dusseldorf in gutsy fashion

Just hours after Joviality finished a highly creditable third in the G1 Beverley D Stakes at Arlington, another daughter of Cape Cross added further Black type to her record when four-year-old filly Emboss won the Listed Preis der Stadtsparkasse Dusseldorf at Bremen, Germany.

Settled in third position under Fabrice Veron, Emboss was asked to quicken with three furlongs left to run and outbattled eventual second Aslana in impressive fashion to win well.

A Darley homebred, Emboss is the first foal to race out of the winning Silver Hawk mare Eilean Ban, a full sister to Stakes winner l’Oiseau d’Argent. She is also from the family of G1 winners Saratoga Six and Dunbeath.

Cape Cross, sire of nine G1 winners to date, recently recorded his 500th European-sired winner. He has a further five yearlings due to sell at the Arqana August Yearling Sale, which continues today.
