Native Ruler is king of Oaklawn

Elusive Quality colt proves best in King Cotton Stakes

Lifetime win number 15 proved a bit of a contest for Elusive Quality's Native Ruler but the gutsy campaigner put himself in front a few jumps before the wire in capturing Oaklawn Park’s King Cotton Stakes, a race he also won in 2009. His career earnings are now approaching the $600,000 mark.

Bred by Rick Nichols and Bernie Sams, Native Ruler out of the Dixieland Band mare Tajannub who was herself a G3-winning juvenile.

Elusive Quality was North America’s leading sire of 2010 by number of progeny stakes wins, siring a total of 17 stakes winners that included the multiple G1 winner Quality Road as well as Native Ruler.
