Longhunter proves best in Kentucky Downs Turf Dash

Third Stakes win for son of Halling

Longhunter, a five-year-old son of Halling, won his third career Stakes race September 14 in the Kentucky Downs Turf Dash Stakes.

In the six-furlong race Longhunter rated just off the pace in third. He traveled four-wide to take on leaders rounding the far turn, and took the lead with a furlong to go to prove best.

Bred by D. D. and Mrs Jean P. Clee, Longhunter is out of Listed winner Dawnus, by Night Shift. A Stakes winner at the Curragh as a two-year-old, Longhunter travelled to the US where he won the Alligator Alley Stakes at Gulfstream at three.

Halling is the sire of 26 individual Group winners, including two at the highest level in Cavalryman and Cutlass Bay. Longhunter is one of 48 Stakes winners for his sire.
