Listed quinella for Iffraaj fillies

Twilight Granita and Kisses separated by a nose at Wanganui

Twilight Granita became the seventh stakes winner for her sire Iffraaj when landing the Listed Fordell O’Leary Stakes over 1200m at Wanganui in New Zealand, leading home her paternal half-sister Kisses, who was second by a nose.

The three year-old filly, who has twice been placed in Listed company, was bred by Lime Country Thoroughbreds Ltd and is out of the Bigstone mare Granita. This was her first triumph in eight starts, which has seen her finish in the money on seven occasions.

The runner-up Kisses was bred by her owner Chequers NZ Ltd and is out of La Marmalade, by Marscay.

Iffraaj, who was Europe’s leading first-season sire with 38 individual two-year-old winners, is also the sire of G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Wootton Bassett and Group Three winners Stay Alive and Espirita.
