Julienas does it again

Successive Stakes wins for Cape Cross gelding

Cape Cross gelding Julienas recorded his second Stakes victory in the space of seven days with a strong win in the Listed Manion Cup over 2400m at Rosehill, March 30.

Sent out a short-priced favourite on the back of an easy win in the Listed Sky High Stakes at the same track a week earlier, the Gai Waterhouse-trained six-year-old was a dominant victor again and is now favourite for the G1 Sydney Cup at the end of April.

Julienas was imported to Australia from the United Kindom just over 12 months ago and his seven starts for the Waterhouse stable have yielded three Stakes victories.

Bred by Pendley Farm, Julienas is out of the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner and G1 Phoenix Stakes third Dora Carrington, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Primo Valentino.

The sire of 74 Stakes winners including nine at G1 level, Cape Cross is standing the current season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €35,000 October 1st SLF.
