Journey takes the Upavon Fillies’ Stakes in record time

Dubawi filly becomes the latest Black type winner for her outstanding sire

Exactly a week after Dubday provided Dubawi with his 20th Group winner of the year, the world’s leading sire added yet another new Stakes winner when his three-year-old daughter Journey landed the Listed Upavon Fillies’ Stakes in course record time at Salisbury.

Always prominent under Robert Havlin, the John Gosden-trained filly moved clear as the field quickened for home and simply could not be caught, storming home to win by two and a quarter lengths from short-priced favourite Suffused.

Her win completed a successful afternoon for the Darley stallions at Salisbury, after Dubawi's son Poet's Voice added an exciting new winner in Vibrant Chords earlier on the card.

Owned and bred by George Strawbridge, Journey is out of the G1 Prix Royal Oak winner Montare, also winner of two G2 contests during a very successful racing career.

Dubawi has now sired a remarkable 27 individual Stakes winners in 2015, including no fewer than nine G1 winners.
