Imperial Emperor rules supreme in the G2 Al Maktoum Mile

Son of Dubawi wins second career G2 at Meydan

Having been on the shelf since last year's G1 Dubai World Cup, Dubawi's five-year-old son Imperial Emperor looked as though he was very well rested as he captured the G2 Al Maktoum Mile at Meydan on 19 December.

Imperial Emperor broke well and was tracking just off the leaders as the field passed the six-furlong mark. As they turned for home, Imperial Emperor was able to make the lead but had to find more as the stubborn Commissioner King, just to his outside, was making him work every step of the way. Ultimately, the wire met him first as he won for the sixth time in twelve career starts.

Bred by Godolphin, Imperial Emperor is a son of the G1-winning mare Zhukova, who is out of Classic winner Nightime, making her a half-sister to Champion and exciting young stallion Ghaiyyath.

Dubawi now has 32 individual Black Type winners in 2025, headed by six G1 winners: Notable Speech, Rebel’s Romance, Delacroix, Lead Artist, Silawi and Walk Of Stars

Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £350,000, Oct 1, SLF.
