Sea The Stars confirms his position as one of racing’s all-time greats with an outstanding victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Already widely acclaimed as one of the best horses ever to grace a racecourse, Cape Cross's exceptional son Sea The Stars further ensured that his name will forever be etched in the history books when winning Europe’s most prestigious race, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, to record his sixth consecutive G1 victory.

Slightly keen early on, John Oxx's charge was settled in mid-division under Mick Kinane and looked to have plenty to do approaching the final turn. However, once the handsome bay hit the home straight he eased his way through the field and as soon as he took the lead the result was never in doubt.

Cavalryman, by fellow Darley stallion Halling, also put up a tremendous performance and stayed on well to finish third, just behind Youmzain, who finished two lengths behind Sea The Stars.

This was Sea The Star’s sixth consecutive win at the highest level and even more impressively, was his sixth G1 win in six months as he has already won the 2,000 Guineas, the Derby, the Eclipse, the Juddmonte International and the Irish Champion Stakes – a feat never completed by another horse.

Prior to today’s race Sea The Stars was allocated a Timeform rating of 140, putting him on a par with horses such as Dubai Millennium, Shergar and Dancing Brave.

In winning the Arc, the Tsui family’s homebred emulated his dam, the great Urban Sea who won this race 16 years ago.
