Ikerrin Road determined winner of G2 Kennedy Road Stakes

Darley-sired exacta as the son of Iffraaj holds off Lonhro’s Holding Gold for the victory

Ikerrin Road rallied from just off the pace to capture the G2 Kennedy Road Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Woodbine 24 Nov.

Racing in third through the early stages of the six-furlong contest, the Iffraaj gelding shot through an opening along the rail as the field hit the top of the lane. Ikerrin Road took command with just over a furlong to run, holding off the late challenge of Holding Gold (Lonhro) to earn the victory.

Originally trained in Britain by John Quinn, he is now a two-time Graded Stakes winner in Canada.

Bred by Gerard Kerin, Ikerrin Road is out of the winning Fantastic Light mare Fantastic Spring, and hails from the female family of Champion miler Selkirk and multiple Graded Stakes winner, Seebe.

Iffraaj is the sire of 65 Stakes winners, including such standouts as two-time Champion miler Ribchester and multiple G1 winner Jungle Cat.

Iffraaj has just completed his southern hemisphere season at Haunui Farm in New Zealand and will return to Dalham Hall in Newmarket for the 2019 season for a fee of £35,000.
