Iffraaj strikes again

Heartbreak is winner number 29 for leading first-season sire while Cai Shen scores for the second time

Iffraaj, Europe’s leading first-season sire and leading sire of two-year-olds, enjoyed yet another winner on Thursday when Heartbreak happily did not live up to his name for his owner/breeders Terry and Margaret Holdcroft of Bearstone Stud.

Out of the G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner Romantic Myth (Mind Games), Heartbreak demonstrated that he too has plenty of speed by winning over the minimum trip. He is a half-brother to the four-time winner Headache, by Cape Cross.

At Salisbury, another of Iffraaj’s young guns, Cai Shen, followed up his maiden win at Sandown on 20 August with victory in the Novice Stakes. The chestnut colt was bred by Wardstown Stud and is out of Collada (Desert Prince).
