Iffraaj makes it 33

Pearl Ice breaks his maiden in style, winning by four and a half lengths at Kempton

Leading first-season sire Iffraaj is now just two winners short of Invincible Spirit’s all-time record for the most winners by a freshman in their first season, when Pearl Ice won in impressive fashion over six furlongs at Kempton on 14 October.

Chasing the early leader, the Sir Mark Prescott-trained colt began to quicken with a furlong left to run and once in front, soon moved clear of his rivals and ran on superbly to win by four and a half lengths.

Bred by Canary Thoroughbreds, Pearl Ice is out of the Stakes-winning Owington mare Jezebel, who has now produced three winners from three foals to race.

Iffraaj, who has made an outstanding start at stud – becoming one of just six stallions to sire 30 juvenile winners from his first crop – is also sire of the unbeaten G1 winner Wootton Bassett, plus fellow Black type performers Musharakaat, Free Art, King David, Stay Alive and Zacynthus.
