If I Can I Can all the way

Iffraaj filly leads throughout to become the 13th Stakes winner for her sire

While it was the last start Stakes-winning Iffraaj filly Kisses that started favourite, it was her paternal half-sister If I Can I Can who stole the show, leading all the way to become the 13th Stakes winner for her sire with victory in the Listed Warstep Stakes over 10f at Riccarton Park, New Zealand on 20 April.

Jumping away well from the gates, If I Can I Can, who was a last start third in the Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes, went forward to take up the lead and that was where she stayed, proving impossible to run down in the wet conditions.

Bred by Fairdale Stud Ltd in New Zealand, If I Can I Can is out of the Zabeel mare Recollection, a sister to the Listed-winning, G2 placed Etolie Du Nord and comes from the family of G1 winner and G1 producing sire Artie Schiller.

The fifth Stakes winner in New Zealand and the 13th overall, the progeny of Iffraaj include the G1 winner Wootton Bassett as well as the G2 winner Fix, who was a last start second in the G1 New Zealand Derby against the boys.

Iffraaj is standing the current breeding season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €10,000, October 1st Special live foal.
