Hartnell cruises to his second G1 victory

Leading son of Authorized wins the Turnbull Stakes in Australia

Hartnell franked his scintillating form this season in Australia and continues to go from strength to strength, this time taking out the G1 Turnbull Stakes over ten furlongs at Flemington on 2 October. His win today makes it three Stakes victories in a row for this talented son of Authorized.

Settling behind the leaders along the fence throughout the running under James McDonald, Hartnell was perfectly positioned as the field turned for home. The five-year-old demonstrated superb acceleration to outclass his rivals and win in dominant fashion.

Hartnell has now won twice at the highest level, having previously taken the G1 BMW Stakes in 2015.

Hartnell is out of Debonnaire who has three winners from as many runners to her name, and hails from the family of French Champion and three-time G1 winner Suave Dancer.

Authorized is the sire of three further G1 winners in Ambivalent, Complacent and Seal of Approval.
