Group-winning sprinter for Shirocco

Abu Sidra lands the G3 Prix de Ris-Orangis at Deauville

Shirocco's prolific winning son Abu Sidra gained his first victory at Group level on Saturday June 29, when victorious in the G3 Prix de Ris-Orangis over 1200m at Deauville. Going into the race the winner of six contests, he took his career earnings to close to €150,000 with todays comfortable one length triumph.

Bred by M B Jeffroy, M J-C Leclerc, M Le Baut and M P Cochard, Abu Sidra is out of the winning Smadoun mare Mary Doun and a half-brother to four-time winning filly Lisztomania (Halling).

Shirocco is now the sire of 17 Group or Stakes horses, including dual Pontefract Castle Stakes winner and St Leger runner-up Brown Panther in his first crop and Shirocco Star, so close in the English and Irish Oaks last season, in his second. Abu Sidra becomes the fifth Stakes performance for progeny of Shirocco in the past eight days.
