Gingerbread Man sprints to success

Shamardal colt lands first leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge

Last seasons top juvenile in Singapore, Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) bounced back to winning ways on Friday April 1 with a gutsy win in the 1200M Listed Singapore 3YO Sprint, the first Leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge.

A winner of three races as a two-year-old including the Magic Millions Juvenile Championship, this was his third win of his three-year-old season, taking his career tally to six victories from nine starts. His trainer after the race commented "He will most definitely go for the second Leg of the 3YO Series, the Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic over 1400m on April 24".

Bred in Australia by Mr R Harvey, he is the second foal and second winner from the Hurricane Sky dam Quaffle, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Golden Snitch and a granddaughter of G1 winner Spyglass. Quaffle also has a yearling colt and filly foal by top Darley stallion Bernardini.

Sire of four G1 winners globally, Shamardal sired a mammoth five Group winning juveniles last season in Europe, a figure un-matched by any stallion in the Northern Hemisphere. Currently standing for €50,000 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland he will be making the journey back to Australia later this year.
