Four winners for New Approach

Orpha wins at the first time of asking to become the latest successful juvenile for Europe’s leading first-season sire

New Approach has made an outstanding start to his stud career, siring three Stakes winners to date. On 13 August, his took his total number of winners to four, when his daughter Orpha made a successful debut at Ffos Las.

The Mick Channon-trained filly landed the six-furlong contest in convincing fashion, winning by two and a half lengths, with the third-placed horses a further two and three-quarter lengths further back.

Bred by Nawara Stud, Orpha is out of the Group-placed Ajdal mare Garah, making her a half-sister to G1 winner Olden Times. The dam is herself a half-sister to Moneefa – dam of Halling’s G2 winner Dandoun.

New Approach became the only first-season sire since the start of the Pattern to record three Royal Ascot juvenile Stakes winners in his first year, courtesy of Coventry Stakes winner Dawn Approach, Albany Stakes winner Newfangled, and Chesham Stakes winner Tha’Ir.
