Fix goes back-to-back

Another G2 win for daughter of Iffraaj

Fix showed she is brave as well as brilliant when showing her fighting qualities to win the G2 Royal Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Ellerslie on New Years Day.

Having set the pace for much of the race, the daughter of Iffraaj was pressed hard by Kidwelly in the straight but pulled out plenty to fight back and score, making it back-to-back G2 wins following her easy victory in the Eight Carat Classic on Boxing Day.

Fix is out of the Danehill mare Destined, a three-quarter sister to the Australian G3 winner Foreteller and the English Listed winner and sire Camacho.

Having been placed in the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas earlier this season, Fix is one of 10 Stakes winners for Iffraaj and the second Stakes winner this season in New Zealand for her sire following the win of Twilight Granita in the Listed Fordel O'Leary Fillies Stakes over 1200m at Wanganui in September.

Earlier on the card at Ellerslie Solar Eclipse finished a good third in the G2 Championship Stakes and these results follow Dogma Noir's win in the Listed Premio UNIRE in Rome on 23 December.

Iffraaj stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland where his fee in 2013 is set at €10,000, October 1st Special live foal.
