First winner for French Navy

Get Set breaks his maiden by six lengths in France

First-crop stallion French Navy sired his first winner on Thursday, 1 August when his son Get Set broke his maiden at Clairefontaine. Making his sixth career start and giving weight to all his rivals, he had no problem in winning by six lengths over the 1400m trip.

Owned and bred by Con and Theresa Marnane, Get Set is a son of the Le Havre mare Almarada, who is a half-sister to Stakes winner Way Back. Almarada also has a yearling filly by French Navy.

One of the best sons of Shamardal at stud, French Navy won Stakes races every season between the ages of two and seven. He broke the track record at Windsor when landing the Midsummer Stakes and hails from the family of Champion sires Buckpasser and Woodman.
