First Stakes win for progressive son of New Approach

Ziegfeld rises to the challenge in Listed Prix Millkom

Ziegfeld, a three-year-old son of New Approach, made a successful step up in class taking the Listed Prix Millkom over a mile at La Teste De Buch on Saturday, 5 September. Making the all, the Andre Fabre trained colt stayed on gamely for jockey Mickael Barzalona to post a one-and-a-half length victory.

Bred by Barton Stud Partnership, Ziegfeld is closely related to G3 Renaissance Stakes winner The Happy Prince out of the Oasis Dream mare Maid To Dream. She is an own-sister to the Listed-placed Run For The Hills and a half-sister to the Stakes-placed Maid To Perfection, dam of the Listed-winning duo Caucus and Queen Of Pentacles. They are out of the Listed Empress Stakes victrix Maid For The Hills (Indian Ridge), a half-sister to the dam of G1 winner Stroll.

Ziegfeld is the 8th individual Stakes winner this season for his sire New Approach following Telecaster’s brilliant six-and-a-half length victory in the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville last week and two-year-old Mac Swiney’s win in the G2 Futurity Stakes the week previously. New Approach is the sire of seven individual G1 winners including Derby winner Masar, who stood his first season at Dalham Hall Stud in 2020.
