First foals for G1-winning sprinter Naval Crown

Early positive reports for the Royal Ascot hero

Naval Crown, Dubawi’s Royal Ascot G1-winning sprinter, has received very positive reports on his first foals to hit the ground.

One of two colts includes a strong chestnut colt out of the Frankel mare A Touch Of Luck. A grandson of the G1 Prix der Diana third Aigrette Garzette, he was bred by Robert Draper.

Another colt born this week was a stunner out of Thaleia. From the extended family of three-time Group winner Endless Drama, David Ryan of Kilfrush Stud said he had "Size, scope and bone, a really good foal."

Born on 2 February, this lovely filly out of Fleur de Lui was bred by Gerrardstown House Stud and described as “Good size and scope. Very correct filly with a lovely head" by Donie Fahy.

Bred on a similar cross to Night Of Thunder and Ghaiyyath, she is a close relative of Dubawi’s G1-winning miler The Revenant.

Other reported filly foals include one out of Golden Angel, born in late January at Hawes Stud with Michael Gaffney stating "she is a fine big foal with good bone. She has loads of quality and great action" and a filly out of Iffa Red, bred by Kilweelran Ltd.

Naval Crown shares remarkably similar looks to his sire Dubawi, and his biggest day on the track came when defeating 11 G1 winners in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He is standing his second season at Kildangan Stud for €10,000.
