First foal for Sidestep

“Attractive, well-balanced, racy and correct filly’ by Exceed And Excel’s Champion juvenile arrives in France

The first reported foal by Australian Champion two-year-old Sidestep was born at Ian Hanamy’s Elevage des Loges on 22 January.

The filly is out of the Anabaa mare Ana Nova, a half-sister to no fewer than five Black type performers including G1 Prix Grand Criterium third Ximb, plus Tadorne – dam of Halling’s G2-winning son Pinson. Another of the mare’s half-sisters, Viva Maria, is herself the dam of Craven Stakes winner and 2,000 Guineas third Native Khan.

Sidestep won the G2 Pago Pago Stakes in his native Australia at two, and found only his paternal half-sister Overreach too good in the G1 Golden Slipper. He went on to add a further G2 victory to his record at three and was also fourth in the G1 Golden Rose.

Sidestep stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €4,000 October 1st SLF.
