Elysium becomes winner number five for Belardo

Two-year-old filly flies home to add to her first-season sire’s tally in style

Belardo has made a superb start to his stud career and on Tuesday, 23 June he recorded his fifth individual winner when Elysium landed the fillies’ maiden, run over five and a half furlongs at Navan.

A little slowly away under jockey Colin Keane, Elysium was settled towards the rear before making progress once approaching the two-furlong marker. She then picked up brilliantly in the closing stages, sweeping past her rivals to win by a length and three quarters.

Elysium was bred by Tullpark Limited and is one of three winners out of Sonning Rose (Hawk Wing), who was second in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot at two. She is a half-sister to three further Black type performers.

Belardo, a Champion juvenile himself, is also sire of the promising filly Lullaby Moon, rated 92p by Timeform following her impressive debut win at Goodwood.
