Eleven G1 winners for Singspiel

Dar Re Mi leads all the way to land the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

Singspiel’s ultra-consistent daughter Dar Re Mi gained a well-deserved first G1 victory on 27 June, leading from pillar to post to land the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

Sent straight to the front under Jimmy Fortune, Dar Re Mi was hard pressed by Beach Bunny in the closing stages of the ten-furlong contest but battled superbly to prevail by a short head, with 11-8 favourite Look Here taking third place.

Trained by John Gosden for Lord Lloyd Webber, Dar Re Mi has been a remarkably consistent performer, never finishing outside of the first three in 11 starts and winning on four occasions. Her best win prior to today was in the G3 Prix Minerve last August, but she had previously finished second in two G1 contests – the Prix Vermeille (where she was second to subsequent Arc winner Zarkava) and the Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

Singspiel has now sired an outstanding 11 G1 winners and a further 20 Group winners. This year he has sired 12 Black type performers, including Dubai Sheema Classic winner Eastern Anthem.
