Eight winners for Raven’s Pass

Glean wins on his debut to become the latest successful juvenile for his first-season sire

Raven's Pass has been enjoying a run of success lately and on 17 August, he sired his second winner of the week and eighth overall when two-year-old colt Glean won on his racecourse debut at Newbury.

Settled off the early pace under Pat Dobbs, the Richard Hannon-trained colt made his move two furlongs from home and ran on impressively to win the seven-furlong contest by half a length from the more experienced Intimidate, with the pair a full seven lengths clear of the rest of the field.

Bred by Lord Rothschild and running in the colours of Lady Rothschild, Glean is out of the multiple Stakes winner Harvest Queen, who also has a colt foal by fellow Darley stallion Iffraaj.

Raven’s Pass is also sire of Chesham Stakes third Lovely Pass, plus Raven’s Rockette – who won by six lengths in the US earlier this week. Another promising runner by the record-breaking Breeders’ Cup Classic winner is Steeler, rated 90p by Timeform and entered in next week’s G3 Acomb Stakes at York.
