Easy seasonal debut win for Veneto

Son of New Approach lands the Listed Grand Prix Aufgalopp in Germany

Veneto finished 2017 in storming form when winning the G3 Niederrhein Pokal in November and he carried that forward to the new season when making a perfect debut in the Listed Grand Prix Aufgalopp. Run over 2100m at Cologne on very soft ground, Veneto made a sweeping move in the back straight to take a clear advantage and was never challenged, going further and further clear in the straight to win by a wide margin.

Despite turning five he is lightly raced for his age with an enviable record of six wins in ten starts.

Veneto was bred by M Barth and is out of the multiple winner Venia Legendi, also dam of four-time G2 winner Vanjura and fellow Stakes winner Vancovia.

New Approach, who is standing this year at a fee of £30,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal, is poised for an excellent season after his juveniles of 2017 performed so well. Amongst his five Stakes runners were G1 performers Masar and Magic Lily, G2 Champagne Stakes second Hey Gaman and Stakes-winning filly Hadith.
