Darley sires shine bright again at Fasig-Tipton

Street Sense and Any Given Saturday best among freshman sires

Day two of Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale ended May 24 with G1 winners Street Sense and Any Given Saturday leading the way among freshman sires by average.

A filly by Street Sense brought the top price of any freshman sire at $280,000 and was consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent. Purchased by Mathis Stables LLC, she will be headed to the barn of John Shirreffs, former trainer of Street Cry’s legendary daughter, Horse of the Year Zenyatta.

Any Given Saturday distinguished himself not only as the second-leading freshman sire by average but also as the only freshman sire to be represented by three six-figure offerings. Following his strong first-day showing which saw two colts sell for $200,000 and $165,000, purchased by Stanley Hough and Bob Baffert, respectively, day two featured a $125,000 filly from the consignment of Pike Racing, Agent with Ciaran Dunne signing the ticket for Donver Stable.

Any Given Saturday and Street Sense stand at Darley America for $20,000 and $40,000, respectively, stand and nurses.
