Opinion Poll battles for Goodwood Cup triumph

Halling's leading stayer Opinion Poll recorded his second victory at G2 level on Thursday July 28, when battling on determinedly to lift the Goodwood Cup. Coming into the race on the back of an excellent second in the G1 Ascot Gold Cup, he has now won seven of his 19 starts, earning connections over £400,000.

From the family of Markofdisinction, Opinion Poll was bred by Darley and is out of the G2-placed mare Ahead (Shirley Heights). He is one of six stakes-horses bred by Ahead including the G3-winner in North America, Horatia.

Famed for siring tough and classy runners, Halling is responsible for 23 Group winners including a brace of French G1-winners, Cavalryman and Cutlass Bay. Opinion Poll is one of 13 G1-horses by Halling, with these select few averaging nearly 30 starts apiece.
