Dubawi filly becomes the 49th Stakes winner for her sire with victory in Australia

Resuming from a spell, three-year-old grey Dubawi filly Catkins maintained her 100% first-up winning record, defeating a class field of colts to take out the Listed Fireball Quality at Rosehill on 2 March, becoming the 49th Stakes winner for her sire.

Settling behind the leader, the unbeaten Golden Sunshine, the Chris Waller-trained filly came along the inside of the heavy track as the field rounded the home turn, challenging the leader at the 200m, pulling away to win by over a length for an impressive victory.

After the race, jockey Corey Brown indicated that from mid-way through the race he never felt that the filly would be beaten.

Bred by Mr O. J. Carter of New South Wales, Catkins is out of the Catbird mare Salix Caprea, a half-sister to the multiple Stakes winner Rally.

As the sire of 49 Stakes winners, nine of which are G1 winners including Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso, Flight Stakes winner Secret Admirer, Hong Kong sprinter Luck Or Design and Darley stallion Poet's Voice, Dubawi is standing the current season for £75,000 at Dalham Hall Stud.
