Cascadian finds best form in Rosehill G3 win

Consistent son of New Approach earns his place in G1 Doncaster Handicap

Cascadian (New Approachdemonstrated a devastating late turn of foot at Rosehill on Saturday, 28 March when storming home to win the G3 Doncaster Prelude victory at Rosehill, Australia.

Saturday’s win earned Cascadian an automatic place in next week’s G1 Doncaster Handicap, where he will aim to build on the G1 potential he showed when second in the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville in 2018.

Cascadian's latest win was his first at Group level and his fifth overall. Should he win the Doncaster, he would join a list of G1 winners for his sire that includes Derby winner Masar, and the outstanding racehorse and Darley stallion Dawn Approach whose eight wins include the four G1s, among them the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes.

Cummings said the Doncaster appealed as an ideal race for Cascadian.

“This performance was so similar to what he showed us in his first campaign in Australia,” he said.

“By the time he got to the end of it he was at G1 level, finishing third in the Cantala Stakes at Flemington.”

Cascadian, a Godolphin homebred, is the first foal out of the Stakes-winning Street Cry mare Falls Of Lora.

New Approach stands at Dalham Hall Stud for a fee of £30,000 Oct 1, SLF.
