Casamento bounces back for third Group win

Three-year-old Shamardal colt strikes for Godolphin at Longchamp

Shamardal's Group One-winning son Casamento showed a return to form on Saturday when winning the G3 Prix du Prince d'Orange over 2000m at Longchamp.

Casamento, who was bred by Dermot Cantillon, Jack Cantillon, C and K Canning, enjoyed a highly successful two-year-old campaign last season, winning on debut before running second in the G1 National Stakes and winning the G2 Beresford Stakes and G1 Racing Post Trophy.

Also making a winning return this week was fellow Shamardal three-year-old Dubai Prince, who won last season's G3 Killavullan Stakes and scored for Godolphin in a Newbury conditions race on Friday.

Shamardal has now sired seven Group winners in 2011, including Derby Italiano winner Crackerjack King, unbeaten juvenile Amaron and last Saturday's highly progressive G3 Select Stakes winner French Navy.
