Venturous

After making a very promising debut behind the hugely impressive Emotionless (Shamardal">Shamardal), Venturous showed the benefit of the run when running out the easy winner of a Newmarket maiden over six furlongs. Held up early after a slow start, the son of Raven's Pass quickened nicely into the dip to run on very well to record an easy two length victory. A step up in grade now looks likely and he holds a G1 Middle Park entry later in the season.

Bred by John Doyle and sold as a foal for €110,000, he is a half brother to G1 Prix Morny third Parliament Square and from the family of G1-winning sprinter Garswood. From the fourth crop of Raven's Pass, he is one of a number of promising winners that includes the Stakes winner Riflescope, the lightly-raced G2 Vintage Stakes second Ibn Malik and G1-entered Fairyhouse winner Vitello.
