Hey Gaman

Juvenile son of New Approach runs away with a Yarmouth maiden

After only being beaten a nose on his debut at Leicester, New Approach's juvenile son Hey Gaman was given the lofty ambition of taking in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, running with great credit despite pulling too hard in the early stages. Facing calmer waters back to a six-furlong trip, he had no problem in breaking his maiden at Yarmouth, jumping from the gates in front and not seeing another rival, eventually running out the easy four-length winner with a gaping 11 lengths back to the third. The James Tate-trained colt, who is out of a Group-placed Dubawi mare, holds a G1 entry later this season in the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh.

He is one of three runners for New Approach from his stellar 2015 crop, his first after Dawn Approach and Talent's Classic victories. Hey Gaman is his second winner after Masar, who is rated 110p by Timeform, the joint-best juvenile colt of Europe after his great Chesham run. The trio is completed by the G1-entered New To Town, who was only beaten a head into second on her debut at Leopardstown.
