Glorious Journey and Folk Tale

Blue-blooded juvenile sons of Dubawi win both divisions of the Novice at Newmarket

Racing at Newmarket switched from the Rowley Mile to the July course on Saturday 10 June and the first two races on their card fell to juvenile sons of Dubawi.

The opening division of the Novice Stakes saw the debut of Glorious Journey, the second foal of the G1 Coronation Stakes heroine Fallen For You. The Normandie Stud-bred colt came into the race well-touted, as befits a 2,600,000gns yearling, and despite not having the race run to suit, he disposed of his rivals with something to spare, despite the winning margin only being a neck. His trainer Charlie Appleby reported that they may look for something at the Newmarket July meeting for his next start.

Half-an-hour later, Folk Tale completed a double for his sire, trainer and jockey when landing the second division, despite running keen for the first half of the race. Unlike Glorious Journey, he came into the race on the back of a previous start (behind New Approach’s very promising Masar) and showed an excellent attitude to win gamely. He hails from the extended family of Canny Lad and Sepoy.
