Dubawi x Sky Lantern

Classic winner Sky Lantern produces colt by Dubawi

The multiple G1 winner Sky Lantern, who included the 2013 1,000 Guineas among her big-race haul, delivered her first foal on January 19, a colt by leading sire Dubawi. The colt, pictured here at six days old with stud groom Angela Whitcomb, was born at Rockcliffe Stud, Gloucestershire.

"He is very pleasing for a first foal, and was 62kg at birth which is a very good weight for a first foal. And he has lovely big ears like her! We're very happy at this stage," commented bloodstock agent Ed Sackville.

Already the winner of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at two for owner Ben Keswick, Sky Lantern won the 200th running of the 1,000 Guineas, giving jockey Richard Hughes his first British Classic winner into the bargain. She went on to land another two G1 victories in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Sun Chariot Stakes back at Newmarket.
