D'bai

Full brother to two Stakes winners gets off the mark

Having been runner-up to his stable mate Dubai Hero on debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket's July meeting, D'bai returned to the same course and distance to open his account on Saturday. Although the margin of victory was only a short head, D'bai showed plenty of class in claiming his first success, and could now aim at the G3 Acomb Stakes at York's Ebor meeting.

The Godolphin colt is a full-brother to Dubawi Gold who finished closest of all to Frankel in a memorable 2,000 Guineas, having scored twice in Listed company en route to Newmarket at three. Also runner-up in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, the colt went on to score in the G2 Celebration Mile before once again following Frankel home in the G1 Lockinge Stakes at four. Another full-brother, Fort Knox, scored in Listed company at three, winning the Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial.
