Casimiro

Roger Charlton-trained son of Casamento makes an impressive debut at Lingfield Park

Casamento's impressive start to 2017 continued on Wednesday 26 April when his first-crop son Casimiro made a taking introduction at Lingfield Park.

Trained by Roger Charlton, the 75,000gns yearling was always travelling smoothly behind the leaders in the seven furlong contest, and when Be Be King went wide of the final bend, he zipped through on the inside to win very easily by three-and-three-quarter lengths. Bred by Ballybrennan Stud, Casimiro is out of the Rahy mare Glyndebourne, a granddaughter of the aptly named Truly Special, whose descendants include the European Classic performers Moonstone, US Army Ranger, Honolulu, Memphis Tennessee and Orchestra.

With three Stakes performers already in 2017, Casamento lies second only to Frankel amongst European second-season sires. Standing at a fee of only £5,000, he has a number of likely Classic runners over the next month: Noivado and Glastonbury Song in Ireland, Rythmique in France and Stamp Collecting in Italy.
