Anamba

Shamardal filly makes eye-catching debut at Leopardstown

Anamba got Irish Champions Weekend off to a flying start for the Darley stallions when defeating the odds-on favourite Coolmore in the opening race of the two-day meeting on September 12th.

The Shamardal">Shamardal filly made a big impression on what was her debut run, picking up well under pressure to repel all challengers, most notably, the favourite who is a full sister to the Classic-winning milers Gleneagles and Marvellous.

Anamba is beautifully bred, being out of the Redoute's Choice mare Anamato who triumphed in the G1 Australasian Oaks in her native country. Also winner of the G3 Darley Sires' Produce as a juvenile and a brace of G2s at three, Anamato went on to be G1-placed in America as well, finishing third in the American Oaks Invitational at Hollywood Park. The mare also has a yearling filly by New Approach.
