Black Type breakthrough for Jenni The Fox

Too Darn Hot mare adds significant value with Listed Black Pearl Stakes win

Jenni The Fox took a decisive step forward on Saturday, 3 January, opening her Black Type account with an impressive victory in the Listed Black Pearl Stakes (1,200m) for fillies and mares at Geelong.

Dropping back slightly in grade after holding her own in Group company late last year, the four-year-old mare was given a polished ride by Tom Stockdale. Settling just behind the speed, Jenni The Fox travelled comfortably to the home turn before being eased into clear running at the 300m and quickly putting the race beyond doubt.

She sprinted clear to score by one-and-three quarter lengths over Hearcomesthestar, with Naifah a further neck away in third, stopping the clock at a sharp 1:09.56. The victory marked her first success at Stakes level and lifted her career earnings to $350,450.

Prepared at Cranbourne by Lucy Yeomans, Jenni The Fox was bred by Mr J Hannan and offered by Segenhoe Stud, Scone as agent at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, where Cape Schanck Stud secured her for $380,000. She is out of the dual Stakes-placed mare Miss Foxwood and has a yearling full-sister.

Her sire, Too Darn Hot, continues to build an elite résumé at stud. A triple G1 winner and the dominant two- and three-year-old of his generation in Europe, Too Darn Hot has already sired 31 Stakes winners from just a handful of crops, with 252 individual winners worldwide.

Standing at a fee of £100,000 this coming season, Too Darn Hot sired three G1 winners in 2025 including Fallen Angel and Tornado Alert.
